Water Resistant
This product is water resistant but not waterproof. All of the major components of the MC500 package such as the spider/surround for the speakers and the connections for the amplifier have been specially coated and sealed so that they have the protection that they need from the damaging effects of the elements.
Audio Input
Other than SD cards and USB drives, You can connect a device that has an audio output (such as your iPhone/iPod, smartphone, and MP3 player) straight into the audio input of your MC500. So basically a cable that has two 3.5mm audio (male) connections at each end.
